The Annual Church Service

Marton Church

The Right Eminent Provincial Prior and Knights of the Provincial Priory hold their Annual Church service in July
at the Church of St. James and St. Paul, Marton, near
Congleton, Cheshire, the oldest timber-framed church
in Europe.

Founded in 1343 by Sir John de Davenport, it is an exquisite example of the black and white style of architecture, said
to be built on a pre-historic mound.

It dates from the 14th century and is Europe's oldest timber-framed church still in use.
